In collaboration with the brillant educators from Bright Little Sparks we will be running a workshop for 5 to to 10 year olds this School Term. Get ready for a season of curiosity, creativity and hands‑on discovery. Our upcoming STEM workshops invite young learners to explore science through playful experiments, colourful investigations and confidence‑boosting challenges. From forces and electricity to earth science, chemical reactions and STEAM creativity, each session blends inquiry, problem‑solving and joyful making. Designed for neurodivergent learners and all budding STEMlets, these workshops empower children to ask questions, test ideas and see themselves as capable, clever creators.

Simple Machines 14 October -11 November

Why is it easier to move a heavy load up a ramp than to lift it straight up? In our Simple Machines workshop, young STEMlets investigate levers, pulleys, inclined planes, wedges, screws and wheels and axles through hands-on building challenges. They'll design a lifting system, test which setup moves the most weight with the least effort, and discover the same principles at work in scissors, bikes, door handles and cranes. Along the way they're practising real engineering habits — predicting, testing, adjusting and explaining their thinking. All materials supplied; no experience needed, just curiosity.

Magnets 18 November - 9 December

Magnets can pull, push and even work through solid objects — but why? In our Magnets workshop, young STEMlets test which materials are magnetic, map invisible magnetic fields with iron filings, and discover what happens when poles meet. They'll experiment with magnetic levitation, and turn an ordinary nail into a temporary magnet of their own. Along the way they're practising real scientific habits — predicting, testing, recording and explaining what they observe. All materials supplied; no experience needed, just curiosity.
